Ab Haq Khan Meet

A joint meeting of officers of Rural Development and Irrigation & Flood Control departments was held to review the progress of de-silting of Zamindar Khuls and creation of other irrigation assets in convergence by these departments here Wednesday.

The was jointly presided over by Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham  Lal Choudhary, an official spokesperson said this evening.

Detailed discussions were held on various works undertaken in different districts.

It was informed that Rural Development Department has conducted de-silting of small Zamindari Khuls in all the districts of the State during March-April 2016.

About 250 works of de-silting costing about Rs 1.20 crore were completed before the onset of irrigation season. Further the meeting was informed that all Executive Engineers of Irrigation Department  have furnished the list of Khuls to be taken up for de-siliting and up-gradation to concerned Assistant Commissioners Development (ACDs) in June for which estimation is under progress and shall be taken up for execution after the end of irrigation season in September, 2016.

The Ministers directed the officers to take up major works during September, 2016 and minor works during February, 2017 and complete them before the onset of next irrigation season.

Haq and Sham also directed the officers to identify some irrigation works related to flood control under convergence and take them up for execution on priority for which material component machinery shall be provided by Flood Control department and the labour component under MGNREGA.

The Ministers also directed them to exchange the lists of works executed by the department to ensure transparency. They also asked them to conduct joint field visits to ensure quality of assets to be created.
