The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan Wednesday convened a high level meeting to review overall law and order situation, medicare facilities, power and drinking water besides availability of essential commodities.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, IGP Kashmir Zone, Director Food and Supplies and other officers of concerned departments, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The Deputy Commissioners of all districts of the valley besides SSPs and other officers concerned attended in the meeting through video conferencing.
The Div Com also inquired about the facilities and arrangements being made for Hajj Pilgrimage-2016 in the valley.
He stressed the concerned to take every possible step for ensuring better arrangements for the Hajj pilgrims at Hajj House Srinagar and at Srinagar Airport.
During the meeting the Divisional Commissioner was informed that the attendance of employees in various government offices is improving.
He was also told that better healthcare facilities are being ensured to the patients at hospitals in every district.
The officers of PDD and PHE informed the Divisional Commissioner that adequate supply of power and water is being provided to consumers.
Baseer stressed upon the officers to ensure smooth supply of ration, cooking gas and other essential commodities so that people do not suffer in this regard. Officials of CA&PD Department informed the meeting that there is sufficient stock of essential commodities in the valley.
Meanwhile, a review of arrangements for August 15 event was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shopian G M Dar in the district.
It was given out that the August 15 event will be held at District Police Lines Shopian and Shahnai Vadan will start at 7 am.
The DC directed the district as well as sectoral heads of different departments to ensure the presence of their employees on the day.
On the occasion, the DC also took stock of security and other arrangements like medical, and fire fighting services and directed the authorities concerned to further strengthen these arrangements.
It was informed that the full-dress rehearsal will be held on August 13, 2016 at district police lines Shopian.
The meeting was attended by ADC Shopian, SSP Shopian, Chief Planning officer, Xen R&B, PHE, & PDD besides other officers and officials of District & sectoral Offices.
Meanwhile, the official spokesperson said that on the 40th day of Amarnath Yatra, 418Yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave. Till date 2, 19,097 Yatris had Darshan at the Holy Cave.
The spokesperson further said that in order to review the progress of Syed Janbaz wali (RA) Convention Center Baramulla, a meeting of officers concerned was held in Baramulla today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash.
The Convention Centre project has been taken up by J&K Housing Board at a cost of Rs 7.47 crore out of which Rs. 2 crore have been released so far and an amount of Rs 75 lakh stands utilized on this project by the executing agency.
The DDC on the occasion while highlighting the importance of the on-going project, directed the agency concerned to speed up pace of work on the project and ensure its completion within the stipulated period.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Executive Engineer, J&K Housing Board and other officers were present in the meeting.
The spokesperson further said that District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal Tariq Hussain Ganai today chaired a meeting of officers and executing agencies of Rural Development Department to review progress of various works in the district.
During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner Development Ganderbal highlighted the progress achieved under MGNREGA during the current financial year till date.
The meeting was informed that during 2016-17, 888 works have been completed and 1.20 lakh man-days generated till date.
The District Development Commissioner impressed upon the officers for maintaining the norms and works to be completed within the stipulated time frame.
