Commenting upon the Indian parliamentary debate on Kashmir, Chairperson Hurriyat Conference (m) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday said that all unless there is an acknowledgement among all political parties in India that Kashmir is a dispute and “not an internal issue and has to be addressed accordingly there is very little chance of the situation Improving or real peace returning to the valley”.

“All other efforts to deal with the issue will yield nothing and will prove to be futile as the past 70 years show,” he said.

Mirwaiz said, “for real and lasting peace and stability in the region, aggressive posturing by Government of India needs to be shunned and both India and Pakistan need to start meaningful dialogue earnestly and engage with the people of Kashmir to seek their opinion and wishes and solve it accordingly.” (KNS)
