A sixty year old lady died after forces were chasing protestors in Srinagar’s Bemina area.
Reports reaching here said that forces thrashed some locals and damaged private property in the area.
“We were chasing stone pelting protestors,” a top cop said, “yes a lady died but we are investigating cause of her death.”
The identity of the deceased lady could not be identified immediately. She is a resident of Nundreshi Colony, Bemina where the incident happened.
Massive pro-freedom protests erupted following death of the lady whose body was carried up to By Pass Bemina by hundreds of mourners amid pro-freedom slongs.
Meanwhile, police sources said that two persons, who were playing cards, were shot at by unknown gunmen in Gundaripora area of Pattan. They survived the attack, however.
J&K Police statement on Gundaripora Pattan incident:
Today evening in the outskirts of Gundaripora Pattan militants fired upon some persons.
Four persons received fire arm injuries.
Two of the injured has been identified as Abdul Rehman Wani aged about 30 years son of Mahada Wani and Aftab Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rasheed Bhat, both residents of Gundaripora. Both of them have been evacuated to hospital.
Two more persons have received minor injuries in the shootout who have been treated locally.
