While asking people to observe 15th August as black day, Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) President and MLA Langate Er Rashid Saturday has asked Indian state and its extension wings in J&K to explain “why should people of Jammu and Kashmir celebrate India’s republic day when the fact is that J&K was a sovereign independent state on 15th August 1947.”

While interacting with various deputations in Srinagar, Er Rashid said that he wishes best to people of India and Pakistan on their Independence days but questioned why should Kashmiri people be forced to hoist tri colour.

“Not only because ugly face of India’s democracy has turned like a man eater for people of J&K but for the reason that it carries no sense to give sermons by Kashmiri puppet ministers on 15th August claiming that we are celebrating our independence day while the fact is just 62 days after India and Pakistan achieved its freedom, they illegally occupied J&K and thus we the people of J&K lost our freedom”, reads an official statement by Er Rashid.

“On a day when people of Jammu & Kashmir are facing worst atrocities at the hands of Indian state and when government of India has refused to allow UNHRC to send its envoys to assess atrocities on Kashmiris, Indian state doesn’t even deserve to be felicitated on eve of its independent day”, said Er Rashid. He added, “It is tragic that while world was expecting All Parties Meeting in Delhi to take some concrete measures for resolving Kashmir dispute but it ended up at abusing Pakistan and thus adding more fuel to the fire. Let India not forget that it had sought and ensured UN intervention on alleged human rights violations in Nepal but now when UNHRC had sought permission to visit J&K, the same propagators of Human Rights with the consensus of all parties refused to allow them the same”.

Er Rashid also said that the act is not only condemnable but has exposed India’s double standards and added that people of J&K value with respect the notice taken by UNHRC on unabated atrocities on Kashmiris but appealed world community and UN organisations to continue their efforts to save lives in Kashmir by resolving the dispute.

Meanwhile, Er Rashid has strongly condemned the atrocities and pressure tactics on people of Chenab and Pir Panchal regions in Jammu Province who have been taking to streets everywhere seeking resolution of J&K dispute and said that “no one is seeking resolution to dispute on communal lines in Jammu Province and the propaganda by BJP and Hindu fanatic forces cannot suppress the genuine voices.” He warned police and civil administration of dire consequences if they continued to harass Muslims in Jammu Province.
