One more youth in South Kashmir on Tuesday was killed, officials said.
Local correspondent reports said that one youth identified as Aamir Yusuf Ganaie, s/o Mohammad Yusuf Ganaie, r/o Nayad PoraLarkipora, Dooru was killed when Larkipora based 19 RR opened fire. Several others were injured in the firing.
“Some people had hoisted some flags in the area when army RR caught hold of some youths and beat them up,” reports said, “this triggered protests and around 10000 people assembled in main Larkipora Chowk.”
The reports added that announcements were made on Masjid loudspeakers and people came out on roads.
“19 RR men responded by opening fire,” eye witness said, “several persons were injured and Aamir succumbed to his injuries at Islamabad hospital.”
The situation is tense in the area as the last reports came in.
MS Islamabad Hospital, Dr Nazeer Mehrab told Kashmir Life that at least 11 persons were brought here. “All of them are hit by bullets,” he said, “one died and one more is critical.”
