Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen Wednesday claimed the responsibility of the attack on Army patrolling party in Baramulla district of North Kashmir.

Hizbul Mujahideen Operational Spokesperson Burhanuddin told Kashmir based news agency CNS that “at least five army men were killed in the attack carried out by a special squad of the outfit in the Baramulla district during the dead of the night”.

“Some of the Indian armed men also sustained serious injuries,” he said.

He added that Deputy Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Saifullah Khalid has directed the squad to “intensify the attacks on security establishments”.

“While lauding the role of militants, Saifullah Khalid decided to reward the group of militants responsible for the daring attack,” he said.

Pertinently, two army personnel and a policeman were killed when militants attacked a security convoy on the Srinagar-Baramulla road near Khawaja Bagh area.

Five army men were injured in the attack.

Militants attacked the convoy between 2:30 AM and 3 AM on the highway.
