J&K police have raided a petrol pump in Kulgam after receiving complaints through various customers that the owner is selling petrol on exorbitant rates.
DyS P Hqrs Kulgam Ashfaq Alam along with SHO Police Station Kulgam Irshad Ahmad raided the petrol pump belonging to Farooq Ahmad and Mukhtar Ahmad at Chowalgam and found that the petrol Pump owner was selling Diesel @ Rs 55.33 per litre and Petrol @ Rs 65.47/ litre which was higher than the market value of Rs 53.70 per litre and Rs 63.64 per litre petrol, JKP spokesperson said in a statement issued on Wednesday evening.
“The petrol pump was seized in presence of the executive magistrate 1st class, Tehsildar Kulgam, on the spot. The sales men Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi and Arshid Ahmad were arrested on the spot, while as the owner of the petrol pump fled away from the spot. The owner of the petrol pump took the advantage of situation with the result was looting the common people. In this regard a case FIR Number 189/2016 under section 420, RPC 3/7 EC Act stands registered and investigation was taken up,” the statement added.
