It was a “night of hell”, cried one resident of Shar Saali village of Khrew in Pampore town.

The local, who broke in to tears intermittently, told Kashmir Life that army men went on rampage late Wednesday night.

“They spared nothing,” he said while accompanying injured persons to a Srinagar hospital.

The local said that army men thrashed everyone on the village including women, elderly and children.

“Unknown number of persons was arrested including one identified as Shabir Ahmad Mangoo,” he said, “early this morning, army sent dead of body of Shabir to his home.”

Shabir, 30, was a 10+2 contractual lecturer for last five years. He is survived by a son and wife.

After being beaten savagely, Shabir’s dead body was driven to sub-district hospital Pampore and was handed over to his family at 6:15 AM.

The local said that the army men broke windows, doors and damaged vehicles in the area. “It is beyond imagination what went through last night,” he said.

The local said that army men even did not spare those work with them. “Some people work in army, their houses are completely damaged,” locals said.

Over a dozen injured persons have been shifted to Srinagar hospitals which include women. “5 are serious,” the local said.

With the “custodial killing” of Khrew teacher

A Journalist from Saffron town Pampore said that army has entered the village around 10 PM and left around 1 AM. “Local reports suggest that at least 150 persons have been injured,” the journalist said. “15 persons injured have been shifted to Srinagar.”
