After broadband internet services were restored in Kashmir on Wednesday evening, now social networking sites have been blocked in Kashmir on Thursday.

Government had asked Internet Service Providers (ISP) in Kashmir to withdraw internet services on August 12 evening. And for three days, BSNL internet worked in select pockets of Srinagar including Press Enclave. However, CNS Infratel, a private ISP, completely blocked the service.

J&K government blocked mobile internet services on July 09 when mass protests erupted following the death of popular militant commander Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016 evening in Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

As soon as the broadband and CNS internet was resumed last evening, social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter was flooded with pro-freedom messages and videos from across Kashmir.

Some videos showed as how CRPF men were damaging residential houses. The location where the video was hot could not be ascertained immediately while the person who recorded it miraculously escaped unhurt when CRPF men targeted his/her home.

The social networking sites were blocked around 10 AM.

Kashmir is witnessing renewed mass civil uprising since July 09, 2016. At least 67 civilians have been massacred since July 09, 2016 while over 7500 persons were injured with over 450 hit by pellets in eyes.

One teacher was beaten to death by army in the intervening night of August 17 and 18 in Khrew area of Pampore while other over 150 persons were injured.
