Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir Saturday expressed its deep anguish, anxiety and concern over the continuing “atrocities” by forces upon the unarmed common masses in the valley resulting in the death of sixty seven innocent persons including women and children and injuring thousands of people.

“People are subjected to ravishing tyranny by the forces throughout the valley and during nocturnal raids apprehension of youth at a large scale is going on and during this process, their parents and other relatives are being intimidated and subjected to torture,” JeI statement said this afternoon.

The JeI statement detailed the attack on family of its leader in Tral’s Kamla area.

The statement is being reproduced here verbatim

In one such dreadful incident in Kamla village of Tral, the house of one 80 year old local leader of Jama’at and a famous social activist and religious preacher Abdul Qayoom Bhat was raided by a huge team of SOG of police Tral during the intervening night of 19 and 20 August in order to arrest his son Mufti Mujahid Shabir Falahi, a famous scholar and ex-district secretary of JeI district Pulwama.

On finding him absent there, these personnel lost their senses and violating all legal and moral norms, crossed all limits of tyranny and brought out his elder brother Noor Muhammad Bhat dragging and beating mercilessly from his home, threw him in a police van and then before leaving the place, indiscriminately fired upon Abdul Qayoom Bhat a full magazine of pellets injuring his whole body excepting head and also fired upon his 75 year old wife standing beside him with the intention to kill the both.

Both of them are undergoing treatment in SMHS and Tral hospitals respectively.

In the meanwhile, a joint team of SOG of police, RR and other Indian forces raided the house of district president of Jama’at Srinagar Bashir Ahmad Lone at Dara, Harwan and harassed his family members and after searching the house thoroughly and not finding Bashir Ahmad Lone arrest his son Akhtar Lone with bare footed.

These raids upon the houses of Mujahid Shabir and Bashir Ahmad Lone are quite unjustified.

Vehemently condemning the “wild and inhumane” act of SOG of police Tral and all other atrocities of the Indian forces, JeI appealed all international and local human rights institutions to intervene in the critical situation the people of valley are facing and bring the culprits to justice.

Moreover, Jama’at stressed upon UNO and other international bodies to exercise their diplomatic influence to get Kashmir issue resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of people residing on both sides of LoC in J&K.

Jama’at also impressed upon the Indo-Pak governments to hold meaningful dialogue along with the real representatives of Kashmir people and find a durable solution of Kashmir issue representing the aspirations of the people concerned which is the only way to establish durable and lasting peace in this sub-continent.

A delegation of Jama’at led by Advocate Zahid Ali visited Aripanthan, Beerwah and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of four youth recently “martyred” by CRPF and paid glowing tributes to them, the statement said.
