The “unrest” in Kashmir is the “incitement of youth by a handful of people for their vested interested”, said Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti addressing an official function in Bhagwati Nagar area of the Jammu city.

Kashmir is witnessing a renewed uprising since the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016. At least 68 civilians have been killed by the forces action so far while over 7500 persons have been injured.

Reports quoted her repeating August 15 statement, Mehbooba said, “guns went into Afghanistan, Syria and Russia.”

“Was anything achieved there by using those guns?” she asked, “violence brings only destruction and nothing else.”

Triggering guns at those “handful people responsible for unrest,” she said that they attempted to disturb the “peace” at the time of Machil fake encounter, Handwara episode in April 2016 which they failed to do.”

She said, “these people tried to raise the issue of separate colonies for retired army men and Kashmiri Pandits but failed.”

“Certain quarters are not happy with the PDP-BJP coalition in the state and they have been out to unsettle the alliance,” she said.

The Chief Minister added, “the fact that students from Kashmir studying outside the state did not face any problems because of the unrest proves the fact that people in mainland India love Kashmiris.”
