Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Wednesday condemned the arrest of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) leaders including its president, Abdul Qayoom Wani and his associates.
President DAK Dr G M Mir said, “peaceful sit-in protest by EJAC against civilian killings and day to day harassment in no way is criminal under any law. It is unfortunate that people are being detained for lodging even a peaceful protest.”
“Government employees and emergency services in particular are performing their duties under continuous threat and fear but it is quite unfortunate that we are being detained even for lodging peaceful protests. On one side, government is issuing orders for all employees to join duties but the ground reality is extremely tense which only a common man is in know. Now that when authorities are being apprised about the ground reality they are being unheard and detained which is deplorable and strongly condemnable,” said Dr Mir Mushtaq, spokesperson of DAK.
He demanded for immediate release of the EJAC leaders.
