A youth from Watpora area in Kaloosa from north of Kashmir’s Bandipora district has been in injured after being hit by a tear-gas shell on Thursday.

Local sources said that earlier youth were holding a “pro-freedom” rally in the area.

However, a huge posse of police and paramilitary forces intercepted them and fired tear smoke shells to disperse them. A shell hit a local youth on his head. He has been identified as Aasif Ahmad Sheikh.

“Aasif has been shifted to a Srinagar hospital for treatment,” locals said.

Meanwhile, clashes are going on in the area while this report is being filed.
