Hurriyat patriarch, Syed Ali Geelani, on Saturday strongly condemned the arrest of senior resistance leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

“These cowardly and childish moves indicate the frustration and mental bankruptcy of the Indian as well as local administration,” Geelani said, “but they can deter us by these foolish acts.”

Geelani also strongly condemned arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader and his personnel secretary Peer Saifullah while returning from medical Check-up in New Delhi.

Peer Saifullah was rearrested and lodged in police satiation Humhama.

Notably, Peer Saifullah is a brain tumour patient and was lodged in police station Humhama where he had developed severe pain in his head and was advised by doctors to visit Delhi for advanced treatment.

“He visited Delhi and met the surgeon Dr Tyagi who had operated him earlier,” Hurriyat Conference (g) statement said.

“He underwent several tests in New Delhi and was told that the problem is developing again and he may be operated again,” the Hurriyat informed.

“He came back and was on way to the office when he was taken in custody by police,” the statement said adding, “Geelani Sahab said that if there is any problem to the health of Saifullah and his condition deteriorates government will be itself responsible for the consequences.”
