Forces lathi-charged and thrashed scores of residents in Kane Kadal area of Old Srinagar on Monday.

Notably, government lifted curfew from Kashmir, except three places, today. It remained imposed for last 51 days at the stretch.

Two local residents called Kashmir Life but were unable to give complete details. The calls were cut shot, intermittently as the residents seemed in hurry.

“Forces have raided our area since last evening,” a local said, “today they came thrashing everyone.”

The locals said that the forces fired tear gas hells and pellets.

“Many persons including women have been injured,” they said, “we are locked inside our homes and nobody is being allowed to come out.”

One local said that protests had erupted in adjoin Habba Kadal are when forces rushed to Chota Bazar and other localities.

“Forces have done innumerable damages; window panes have been broken, cars damaged and what not,” they said. “They want to break our resolve.”

The callers were coughing constantly “because of the pepper gas released in the area”.

Meanwhile, private and government vehicles are plying in Lal Chowk and adjoining areas.
