DHSK special clinic at Baramulla Hospital

Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) in collaboration with Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, (SKIMS) organized a special clinic at District Hospital Baramulla which was inaugurated by Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director Health Services Kashmir on Wednesday.

A team from SKIMS headed by Dr Altaf Gauhar Haji (HoD, Surgical Oncology, SKIMS) including Dr Sheikh Zahoor, Dr Ab Wahid and Dr Azhar Jan performed a total of six cancer surgeries which were listed earlier, a statement issued by DHSK said this afternoon.

The team was assisted by the Surgical Unit of District Hospital Baramulla consisting of Dr Afaq Shwerwani, Dr Shakeb Ahmed, Syed Asgar, Nazir Changa (Theater Assistants).

Follow up of 25 patients who were operated upon for various cancer surgeries at SKIMS was also done.

On this occasion, the statement informed, live operative workshop with regard to the cancer surgeries was also organized in which various medicos and paramedics of the hospital participated.

Director Health Services, Kashmir while speaking on the occasion expressed his gratitude to Director SKIMS Prof A G Ahangar, Dr Altaf Gauhar Haji and the Department of Surgical Oncology, SKIMS for collaborating with DHSK in performing cancer surgeries at peripheral hospitals.

He also appreciated Dy MS DH Baramulla Dr Syed Masood in organizing the special clinic.

Director Health reiterated the need to work in tandem with SKIMS so as to enable the cancer patients to be operated upon at their doorsteps in their respective districts.

Director Health took a review meeting also wherein all health administrators of District Baramulla were present.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Bashir Chalkoo apprised the director about detailed health care scenario of the district Baramulla.

“Various issues were discussed threadbare and thrust was given on implementation of recently framed SOPs in letter and spirit,” the statement added. “The administrators were directed to come up with detailed action plan about Bio-Medical Waste Management and Disaster Management.”
