Coming down heavily on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement made during a press conference in Srinagar that “J&K was, is and will remain India’s integral part”, Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) chief and MLA Langate Er Rashid Monday said that “claim is far away from reality”.
“J&K was never integral part of India and was in fact a sovereign country when Indians were slaves of Britishers,” Rashid said in a statement issued this afternoon.
“Unfortunately, the moment India achieved freedom and despite not being able to keep its own country together and it broke up into three, it occupied J&K by using , immoral and dirty means and people of Jammu & Kashmir have been fighting from 27th Oct, 1947 till date against India’s occupation and have offered more than five lakh sacrifices,” he said. “If Rajnath Singh or any Indian can rule Kashmir as on date, it is by the courtesy of barrel of gun”.
Rashid asked Rajnath Singh if India continues to be “in denial mood” while acknowledging the disputed nature of J&K,” may he ask what is the fun of sending all parties delegation, promising to talk stake holders and begging for resolution from door to door”.
“Such arrogant, irresponsible, unrealistic and confusing claims are not new but have yet again exposed India as the Indian successive Governments have often ‘tried to buy’ the time and maintain the status quo,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rashid hailed people of Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley who have “rejected” the demand of separate state hood for Jammu and “made it clear that Jammu doesn’t mean two and a half districts but it includes thousands of villages and towns from Pir Panchal to Chenab”.
The statement said that Rashid offered his full support to “Greater Pir Panchal Unity Forum” and said, “every Kashmiri is of firm belief that the whole state is a disputed territory and demand of separate state hood by communal forces is just an attempt to dilute Kashmir cause.”
