With civil uprising taking precedence over everything in Kashmir at the moment, the weddings seemed to have followed the suit. This is what happened in Downtown Eidgarh locality Sunday when instead of traditional wedding songs, a bride was given auspicious send-off to her in-laws with pro-freedom slogans.

As per the report published in daily Aftab, fascinating scenes unfolded in Eidgarh when bharatis pitched pro-freedom slogans in a marriage of a local girl.

“With the slogans like—Hum Kya Chahitey? Aazadi! Ye mulk hamara hai, Iss kya feesla hum karengey—the bride was given joyful send-off to her in-laws,” the report that made it to the daily’s front-page said.

“Hearing the slogans, the locals, including youth and women, came out of their homes and joined the cheerful chorus.”

Since the civil uprising broke out in Kashmir on July 8 with killing of young rebel commander Burhan Wani, most of the marriages have been solemnised in a simple manner across Kashmir. But after the intriguing scenes unfolded in Eidgarh Sunday, many feel, another trend is on cards in dissenting valley.
