A government of India run school was gutted when forces lobbed tear smoke canisters inside the premises of the school in Kulgam on Wednesday.
Reports reaching here said that a pro-freedom rally was intercepted by the forces.
A teargas shell was fired to break up the rally going on in the compound of the school.
Several people were injured after forces fired teargas shells into the rally one of which landed inside the school building in Mirhama village, setting it aflame.
The school ambulance also caught fire in the forces’ action.
