A mob on Thursday set ablaze a vehicle carrying bovine in Chingus village of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The truck, carrying 22 bovines, was on way to Rajouri from Jammu side when it got stuck in a drain in Chingus village, a newspaper report said.
Locals gathered near the vehicle and torched it after seeing the animals inside it, reports said, adding that all the animals were safe.
They also blocked the highway and staged a protest, alleging that police had failed to check smuggling of bovines.
Later, DC and SSP Rajouri reached at the spot and assured stern action against those violating the laws.
