A girl (name withheld) resident of Trikanjan Boniyar, Baramulla consumed some poisonous substance at her home, police said on Thursday evening.
“She was shifted to District Hospital Baramulla for treatment where she breathed her last. After completion of legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites,” the police said.
Meanwhile, the police added that seven persons were injured in two separate road accidents in Sopore and Shopian.
In Sopore, a load carrier bearing registration number JK01J/0792 skidded off the road on NHW near Chandkote Crossing Tarzoo, resulting in injuries to four persons.
All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Pattan for treatment.
In Shopian, a load carrier bearing registration number JK22/5647 and a motorcycle collided at Batpora Chowk, resulting in injuries to three persons. All the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment.
The police further said that two drug peddlers were arrested in Pulwama while 26 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from their possession.
“Police laid a naka at Kakapora. During naka a Maruti van bearing registration number JK14-8135 was intercepted. On checking five cardboard boxes containing 26 kilograms of poppy straw were recovered from the vehicle. Two persons Farooq Ahmad Magray son of Abdul Majeed resident of Palpora Wasoora and Sajad Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Nownagri Pulwama who were boarding the vehicle were arrested,” police said in a routine statement today.
“A case FIR number 376/2016 under section 15/18 NDPS was registered against them and investigation was taken up.”
