Independent lawmaker, Engineer Rashid, on Thursday took out a protest rally against atrocities in Kashmir. However, police and CRPF swung in to action and arrested him along with his scores of activists.

Inam un Nabi, Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) spokesperson, told Kashmir Life that Rashid drove to his assembly segment last mid-night and a protest rally was scheduled to be held which started from Chotipora village in Langate.

“The protest rally was held to condemn the civilian killings,” Inam said.

A few days ago killed one student, Asif Majid, who lived in Qaziabad which falls in Langate constituency. “Scores of party activists participated in the rally but forces stopped them in main Handwara chowk and lodged them in Police Station,” he said.

Condemning the detention of AIP chief and its activists, Inam said that rally was peaceful.
