The union ministry of home affairs (HMA) in one of its report on Kashmir uprising has said that at least 5560 security forces personnel were injured since July 08, 2016.
In a report: Summer of Civil Unrest (08 July to Sep 06, 2016), the Home Ministry has noted 1732 “law and order incidents” during this period.
The report, however, added, “51% of these incidents were reported on first three days of unrest and others on subsequent Fridays.”
Kashmir is witnessing a mass civil uprising since July 09, 2016 triggered by the killing of popular Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016 in Bemdoora village of Kokernag in Islamabad district.
“32 government establishments have been set ablaze,” the report said, “while as 52 such establishments have been damaged.”
In the same report, the Home Ministry report said that only 60 civilians have been killed in forces action. The report adds that two casualties on part of security forces as well.
Giving details of the injured civilians during this period, the report said that out of 7550 injured persons, 7423 have been discharged from the hospital.
“127 civilians injured are still admitted in hospitals,” the report said, “6 of the total injured have lost both eyes while 21 persons have lost on eye each.”
The mass anti-establishment uprising entered third month on September 07 and at least 77 civilians have been laid in to their graves since July 09, 2016. More so, over 11000 civilians were injured in this period.
On first day of the third month, one septuagenarian lost his life after he suffered heart break when forces fired tear gas shells which landed near his home in Kulgam on September 07, 2016.
A report on Thursday said that on average, 166 civilians were injured daily in last two months. It put the number of civilians injured during that period at 10,000. “While over 750 of injured civilians were hit by pellets in eyes, with many of them facing blindness, another 343 persons suffered bullet injures,” the report added.
