Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) has invited Ms Aasiyeh Andrabi, chairperson Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), for the annual coordination meeting of foreign Ministers of its members as well as the meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.
A statement issued by DeM said that Aasiyeh has received the invite for the meeting which will be held during 71st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN headquarters in New york from 19- 22 September 2016.
“Due to unavailability of travel documents and prevailing situation in Kashmir,” the DeM Secretary General said in the statement, “it is impossible for Ms Andrabi to attend the said meetings.”
While thanking OIC for invitation, the statement said, “she has dispatched a video message describing volatile situation of Kashmir.”
Notably, OIC has invited Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as well for the same meeting. The duo is under detention, however.
