#Day65: One Suspected Militant Dies In Poonch Encounter

SRINAGAR

At least one suspected militant was killed in an on-going “encounter” with forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch on Sunday.

Few more militants are suspected to be around the mini-secretariat in Allah Pir area of Poonch.

Earlier today, a police personnel was killed in the on-going gunfight.

“There was a gun battle near the under construction mini-secretariat at Allah Pir area in Poonch after the presence of two or more militants was detected in the area this morning,” a police officer said.

In the encounter, one policeman died and two persons were injured, police officials said, adding, the deceased was identified as R Kumar.

One of the injured is Sub-Inspector of Special Operation Group (SoG) Manzoor Hussain and another a civilian Tariq, they said.

The encounter is underway and further details are awaited, he said.

Meanwhile, four suspected militants have been killed in the ongoing encounter with the forces in Nowgam sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara.

Four weapons have so far been recovered from the slain terrorists, while search operation is currently underway.

On the other hand, as many as 112 civilians have been injured in a clash between the forces and protesters in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir is witnessing uprising post the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces on July 8.
