Army based in South Kashmir’s Shopian on Sunday said that it held a medical camp.
In a statement issued this evening, the statement said, “the on-going turmoil in Kashmir has forced the normal life to come to a standstill. The common people are deprived of basic essential amenities required to live a happy and peaceful life.”
The statement said that Shopian based Army Camp organized a Medical Camp at Saimarg on 11 Sep 2016 to provide free medical treatment to the populace of Saimarg, Shadab Krewa, Kathohalan, Zoramanloo and nearby villages.
“Medical Officer of Shopian based Army Camp along with trained medical staff from Army were made available under one roof to provide the free medical check-up as well as free medicines to the local populace including men, women and children,” it informed.
“The camp witnessed overwhelming response from the villagers who were very happy to receive the much-needed treatment in a very peaceful environment. A total of 89 men, 71women and 113 children treated during the medical camp,” the statement said.
The statement added that the camp witnessed a “grand success as it was beneficial to the local people since medical facilities are not easily available to them due to on-going curfew and turmoil in the valley since last two months”.
