Extending Eid greetings, Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti has wished people “peace, well-being and prosperity”.

An official spokesman quoted Ms Mufti saying the festival should imbibes in the spirit of making honesty and truthfulness a way of life. “The holy occasion also teaches us to maintain high principles of selfless service to the Almighty Allah and the humanity,” she added.

Ms Mufti said Eid is also a day on which people remember the deceased, visit the sick, see relatives and friends, overlook grudges, help the needy and show kindness and generosity to all. Overcoming the common grievances against each other that prevent our mutual co-existence is the ultimate spirit of sacrifice and is also a day for reaching out to the needy, she added.

She hoped that this auspicious day will further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, mutual brotherhood, amity, and tranquility. She said as Kashmir is going through a painful situation, we need to reach out to those who have suffered immense human tragedies and financial losses. “Let us strive to lessen the pain and sufferings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” she said.

Meanwhile governor N N Vohra hoped that this festival would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, and revive the glorious pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries past.
