After announcing his resignation from Parliament citing current Kashmir situation a week earlier, senior Unionist politician Tariq Hamid Karra’s resignation letter is yet to reach office of Lok Sabha Speaker.

Founding member of ruling People Democratic Party (PDP), Karra also resigned from basic membership of the party during a presser on September 15, 2016 afternoon.

Karra had cited “technical problems” in sending his resignation letter to Lok Sabha speaker which was termed as “lame excuse” by PDP.

“It (resignation letter) will reach (to office of Lok Sabha speaker),” Karra Kashmir Life on Thursday morning.

When asked that PDP has termed his “withholding of resignation just to seek lame excuses”, Karra said, “they (PDP) have to say many things.” “It (resignation letter) will reach,” he said but stopped short of giving any time period.

PDP’s Rajya Sabha member Fayaz Ahmad Mir on Wednesday told KNS, “Karra is withholding resignation just to seek lame excuses. I have confirmed from the office of the speaker Lok Sabha about the delivery of the resignation letter of Tariq Hameed Kara but I was told that the speaker’s office hasn’t received any resignation from Tariq Hameed Kara till today”.

Claiming that citing “technical reasons” for delay in sending his resignation letter is tantamount to “hoodwink” people, Mir added, “He (Karra) could have sent his resignation letter much earlier as there is no technicality involved in forwarding resignation letter to parliament by any sitting parliament member.”
