Maj Gen S S Jakhar, ADG, NCC Directorate J&K accompanied by Brig. S.D. Mehta, Group Commander, NCC Group Hqrs Srinagar, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here on Friday.

ADG, NCC informed the Governor about the NCC’s ongoing activities in the State and Central Government’s recent approval for the raising of three new NCC Battalions in J&K, an official spokesperson said this evening.

Observing that the NCC is an excellent organization which inculcates discipline and the spirit of camaraderie and resilience, the Governor stressed the importance of all efforts being made to see that the maximum number of boys and girls from J&K get enrolled in the NCC and join the Defence Services in the officer’s cadres.

He urged Maj Gen Jakhar to have all pending issues early discussed and cleared by with the State Education Department to ensure that the NCC can further enlarge its network in J&K.

The Governor presented a Silver Rolling Trophy to Maj. Gen. Jakhar which has been instituted by the Governor for being awarded to the overall winner of the Annual Inter-Group Competitions which are organised by J&K NCC Directorate every year on the eve of the Republic Day Celebrations.
