After Pakistan Premier Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif spoke on Kashmir during his United Nations General Assembly speech on Wednesday, the United Nations Secretary General has stressed on India and Pakistan to resolve Kashmir Issue through dialogue.
It was stated in a statement issued by Spokesperson of UN Secretary General after Sharif met Ban Ki-Moon on the side lines of the 71st session of General Assembly on late September 21, 2016.

Tensions escalated in South Asia after 12 Indian army soldiers were killed in a pre-dawn attack September 18, 2016. India alleged that the four attackers who stormed Army base in North Kashmir’s Uri town were pushed in to this side of Line of Control by Pakistan. However, the charge was refuted by Pakistan saying it was an “attempt by New Delhi to divert attention from the current uprising in Kashmir”.
The spokesperson of the Secretary-General expressed appreciation to Pakistan for its hosting of one of the largest groups of refugees for decades.
