An intense firing is reported from Baramulla that has added to the tensions in the north Kashmir town.

When Kashmir Life approached the Police Control Room Baramulla, an official said: “It is happening in Janbazpora where 46-RR is stationed.” He had no idea if the firing was encounter, an attack or whatever.

Colleagues in Baramulla town are phoning with reports of massive gunfire in their vicinity,” Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister tweeted, “Prayers for all in the area.”

Comments in this response suggest that it is an attack but Kashmir Life could not confirm it from any source. Everybody is talking about firing but nobody is offering any clue.

One report said that some deafening bangs were also heard.

A report by a TV network said two border guards were injured in the initial shootout. The area is also having a BSF bunker near by. The firing was going on till this reported was filed. A senior police officer told Kashmir Life that because of the darkness the details are not coming forth. “Firing is closer to the garrison but nothing much is known,” he said.

Meanwhile reports said that the police and army have jointly arrested a PaK resident near the LoC in Poonch. Identified as Mohammad Rashid Khan, his age is about 41 years. He basically belongs to Haveli district and was arrested from Saujian sector. He is currently being interrogated.
