#Day88: Forces Raid Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Leader’s House, Lady Injured

ISLAMABAD

A 30-year-old lady was injured after forces raided house of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader in Waghama village of South Kashmir’s Bijbehara town during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

The family of Fayaz Ahmad, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Secretary General for Islamabad, alleged, “forces around 2 am in night entered their house and directly went upstairs in their house.”

“As three of our rooms were locked, we told them to wait till we open them,” said a family member, “but they broke the doors and when we tried to resist they beat us to pulp.”

Family members say that Fayaz, whom they were searching for, was not at home but other family were beaten.

“Not finding Fayaz, they fired shells in our lawn and beat other family members,” the family members said.

30-year-old Shakeela, Fayaz’s cousin, received injury in her back after forces allegedly fired pellets while his sister-in-Law, and niece were beaten.

“Why are forces beating us when there no fault of ours,” said his father, who was too was beaten by the men in uniform.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, a pro-Islam and pro-freedom group was formed in 2004 after Syed Ali Geelani and his life time associate Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai departed from Jama’at-e-Islami. Hurriyat patriarch Geelani heads it since then.

Since July 09, 2016, the members and leaders of the group have been holding rallies across Kashmir and many of them have been arrested while others are on the run.
