The Indian and Pakistan Armies on Friday morning resorted to heavy shelling and gunfire across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu region.
Heavy shelling and firing started in Malta area in Poonch district today (Friday) morning after the neighbouring Armies resorted to indiscriminate mortar shelling and firing at each other, media reports said.
A bilateral ceasefire agreement was signed between India and Pakistan in November 2003. However, violations of the same agreement were witnessed since then.
On Sep 29, 2016, Indian army said that its “special forces carried out surgical strikes along LoC in Kashmir”. Since, then, ceasefire violations have been reported almost every day.
