#Day94: Police Detail Monday Situation, say EDI Encounter Still On

SRINAGAR

J&K Police issued a statement on Monday evening detailing the situation of the day.

The statement is being reproduced here verbatim for larger public interest

In view of sensitivity of some areas and as a precautionary measure curfew was imposed in some areas of Srinagar city today. There was no curfew elsewhere in the valley. The situation across Kashmir remained by and large peaceful.

During the day vendors were seen doing their usual business in the markets as well as lanes of the towns across valley.

Vehicles were seen plying normally on roads in the curfew free areas of Srinagar city as well as other towns.

In the meantime continuing with its drive against the miscreants across the Kashmir valley 40 persons who were found involved in different offences of creating public disorder and disruption of normal activities have been arrested by police during past 24 hours.

An encounter started at EDI Building, Pampore under the jurisdiction of Police Station Pampore between the militants and security forces. Encounter is still going on.

Meanwhile, the police added in the statement countering the news reports coming from Nadihal area of Bandipora district.

Rebuttal

Apropos to a news item updated by some news portals regarding damage of property by forces in Nadihal, Bandipora today. In this regard district police authorities Bandipora have refuted the news item and informed that the news item is far from the truth and as such is rebutted.
