Heavy deployment of forces has been made along all roads leading to Srinagar on Monday while frisking and checking is being done across the city.
Razor wires have been spread while forces vehicles have been stationed at every major check point.
The movement of private vehicles is being scuttled and cops and CRPF men are not allowing anyone to enter the city centre. Even pedestrians are facing tough time to reach Lal Chowk.
Officials said that the step was taken in view of the 8 Muharram processions taken out by the members of Shia community while Kashmir is observing complete shutdown today. While, the resistance leadership has asked people to block all roads leading to police stations today in their latest calendar.
