An Army Captain and 17 others, allegedly involved in an online sex scam, have been released on bail, winter capital.
The women involved in the scam are in the age group of 26 and 40, reports quoting Jammu police said.
The racket was run with help of social media Facebook and WhatsApp.
The police, reports added, are in search of over half a dozen call girls and some pimps, whose whereabouts remains a “mystery”. Their phones are continuously switched off.
Reports said that the police are facing hiccups in investigating the case as some senior police officers were also allegedly involved in the racket. This has put pressure on the investigating team and search for the kingpin has been stopped while the team has assessed the records to nab these absconding call girls.
Police have filed FIRs 93/2016 U/S 67-A, B IT Act 5/8 PIT Act stands registered at Janipur police station and investigations are on.
Reports informed that police had arrested three brokers including Sunil Kumar, son of Suram Dass, resident of Laswara Bishnah, at present Toph Sherkhania Jammu; Parvinder Kumar, son of Ram Labhaya, resident of R S Pura Jammu and Jagdev Singh alias Meikle, son of Kura Ram, resident of Morcha Pur Pandorian Bishnah.
While interrogating the brokers, reports added, the accused revealed the spots and names of the girls and pimps.
Police followed the information, and raids were conducted and several persons were nabbed, which included Army Captain Ankur Bansal (27), son of Ajay Bansal, resident of JB Nagar Andheri Mumbai at present Satwari; Mandeep Singh (32), son of Charanjeet Singh, resident of 803 Sai Sappheise Mumbai at present Hotel Char Chinar Jammu; Mumtaz (35), (name changed), resident of Nawalan Pundan, district Baramulla; Priya (26) (name changed), resident of Bhour camp Chatha; Shanti (41) (name changed), resident of Digiana; Aman Sharma (17), son of Romesh Kumar, resident of Preet Nagar Digiana Jammu; Inderjeet Singh (31), son of Kirpal Singh, resident of Preet Nagar Digiana Jammu; Kewal Singh, son of Sardar Singh, resident of Jagti Nagrota Jammu; Simrit Kour (28), (name changed), resident of Chatta Bhour Camp Jammu; Sunita, (38), (name changed), resident of Badyal Brahmana at present Bakshi Nagar; Veena (21), (name changed) & Sunita Verma (name changed, 22), both residents of Bhagwati Nagar Jammu; Seema Pandey (30, name changed), resident of Digiana Ashram; Simi (40, name changed), resident of Kotli Nowshera RS Pura and Jyotsana (26, name changed), resident of Chadwal Tehsil Hira Nagar, district Kathua.
Reports said that Indian army has initiated Court of Inquiry against the accused Army Captain.
The racket was busted out after Munesh Nand, a local, had lodged complaint “while surfing Google”.
“ I was shocked to find a post ‘Seeking Sex with excellent model girls offered from Jammu on Phone numbers 9796416004 , 9107373301, 9796856396, 9796822111, 9988606087 and 9988559083’ which revealed that these services are being provided by some locals of Jammu, who have their phone numbers registered on these sites. They manage girls for prostitution and customers were locals as well as non-locals,” he is reported to have said.
J&K Police are also requesting Facebook and Google, to keep a vigil besides monitoring of flesh trade through internet and keep eye on such sites indulging into this crime.
