A tractor driver died after his tractor skidded off the road in Pahalgam area of Islamabad district, police said on Wednesday evening.
In Islamabad, a tractor driven by Javaid Ahmad Sethi, son of Mohammad Yousuf, resident of Langanbal Veerseran skidded off the road and fell in Lidder Nallah at Sarbal Pahalgam, resulting in on spot death of the driver.
After completion of legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his next of kins for last rites.
The police said that fire broke out in Noor-Ul-Huda private school at Zewan near Bharat Petroleum Pump Depot Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, resulting in damage to the structure. Fire was brought under control by fire tenders.
Meanwhile, the police in its drive against the contraband crops, destroyed bung cultivation spread on 75 kanals of land in Bijbehara area of Islamabad.
On the directions of SSP Islamabad and under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara, a police party headed by SHO Bijbehara conducted a drive against bung cultivators.
During the drive bung cultivation spread on 30 Kanals of land at village Gantlipora and 45 kanals of land at village Krandigram, Bijbehara was destroyed.
Bijbehara police have initiated legal action against the cultivators, the police said.
