Expressing serious concern over the “continuous repression” and imposition of curbs in Kashmir, All Party Hurriyat Conference (m) on Saturday sternly condemned the use of “brute force” by the state authorities to foil the march towards governor’s house.

The Hurriyat Conference (m) spokesperson said, “due to the use of lethal force including firing of pellets, tear gas shells and PAVA shells 50 people were injured on Friday in Kashmir.”

Referring to Saloosa area of Baramulla, the Hurriyat Conference stated, “the forces used atrocious force in the form of pellets and tear gas shells to scare the villagers. The forces ransacked houses of the villagers and thrashed them which amounts to the worst for of state sponsored terrorism, continuing in Kashmir from past three months.”

The spokesperson condemned the “state violence and use of brute force” on unarmed Kashmiris, adding, “the authorities were using extreme force to break the resolve of Kashmiris in a bid to prevent them from taking ahead their call for right to self-determination.”

“Authorities have turned Kashmir into an open jail by continuous locking up of the Jamia Masjid Srinagar from past three months and jailing the Hurriyat leadership, thousands of youth imposing putting restrictions and curfews,” the Hurriyat Conference amalgam added.

Terming the strike and protests in Pir Panjal and Chenab regions by the Muslims as “justified”, the Hurriyat Conference (m) spokesperson said, “all the three regions of Kashmir were unanimous in demanding their right to self-determination to decide their political fate. Sacrifices given by the people of three regions for the freedom struggle were exemplary.”

The Hurriyat Conference (m) once again reiterated that it “holds by its pledge to take the freedom struggle forward”, adding that the APHC-m “will not allow the sacrifices of people and the leadership to go waste at any cost”.
