The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) shall formally elect its administrative council within a period of 15 days, said its chief election commissioner (EC) and noted industrialist Syed Shakeel Qalander.

FCIK was facing internal crisis ever since it former president Mohammad Ashraf Mir was selected as J&K Bank’s member Board of Governors.

A statement issued by FCIK election commissioner aid that a meeting of FCIK’s senior members was held at its office today.

“While exercising his ruling, the CEC made it clear that the action of members of executive council to have an interim body lacked the support of constitution as well as due process of elections,” the statement said, “election for the administrative council shall strictly be conducted as per the provisions of constitution after completing election for the left out representation in the executive council.”

The statement said that FCIK members including Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Mukhtar Yousuf, Ghulam Mohammad Tramboo, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, M Iqbal Buch, Irfan Ahmad Narwaroo, Haji Mohammad Ashraf, Farooq Ahmad Mir, Javiad Ahmad Bhat, Dr Zain-ul-Abideen, Mumtaz Ahmad Geelani, Ghulam Jeelani, Altaf Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, and others vowed to “protect the image and credibility” of FCIK “at all costs”.

“They expressed satisfaction over the resolution of crises with everybody’s cooperation. They warned those elements who indulge in tarnishing the image of the organisation and its constitutional authorities including President, Speaker and Election Commissioner at any point of time,” the statement said, “the members also expressed that FCIK, incepted with the aim and objective of promotion of industry and idea of self-reliance is and will remain the pride of valley’s entrepreneurial fraternity for all times to come.”
