A J&K Police cop has been critically injured in late night suspected militant attack in Zakura in summer capital on Friday.

J&K Police spokesperson told Kashmir Life, “one JKP cop was injured in Zakura attack last night.”

The police spokesperson said that the cop was rushed to SKIMS Soura. “He is critical and has been put on ventilator.” He has been identified as Zulfikar Ali.

Suspected militants ambushed a convoy carrying paramilitary forces in summer capital on Friday evening, killing one para-military trooper and wounding seven others.

The militants escaped after carrying out the attack on the outskirts of Srinagar in Zakura area.

Armed forces were searching for the gunmen till late in the night. The dead paramilitary trooper belonged to SSB.

The armed forces personnel came under attack when they were withdrawing from “law and order” duties yesterday evening.

They came under firing leaving eight injured who were rushed to SKIMS Soura where doctors declared an SSB personnel “brought dead”. The SSB personel injured in the attack were rushed to Army’s 92-base hospital at Badambagh from SKIMS Soura.

On last Wednesday, unknown gunmen shot dead a pro-India political party worker North Kashmir, hours after two suspected militants were killed by armed forces following a 56-hour operation on the edge of Srinagar inside the premises of J&K EDI at Sempora Pampore.
