The authorities have finally decided not to allow Hurriyat(M) Chairman, Mirwiaz Umar Farooq and his followers to go for Eidgah rally to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of his father late Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq and late Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Lone.

The Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar Monday afternoon met Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his residence and conveyed him the decision.

“Yes, DC Farooq Ahmad Shah and SSP Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari had come to meet Mirwaiz Sahab and they have conveyed him that Eidgah rally won’t be allowed,” Shahid-ul-Islam, political advisor to Hurriyat (M) confirmed Kashmir Life.

He added that both the officers had a detailed talk with Mirwaiz Sahab and finally they conveyed him the decision.

The Hurriyat (M) had called for a march to the martyrs’ graveyard in Eidgah area to commemorate the death anniversaries of Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq  and Abdul Gani Lone on May 21.

Late Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq was assassinated at his Nigeen residence on May 21, 1990 and Lone was killed during a rally in Srinagar on May 21 in 2002.

Sources in the state administration said that the proposed separatist march has been disallowed keeping in view the law and order problem.
