Several establishments were issued show-cause notices, while some were sealed during the drive, which covered Kulgam town, Pahloo, Devsar, DK Marg, Qazigund, Frisal, Kadder, Behibagh and Tengjan.

The enforcement operation was conducted in close coordination with police stations including PS Behibagh, PS Kulgam, PS Qaimoh, PS Qazigund and PS Devsar, aimed at strengthening surveillance and preventing the misuse of scheduled drugs.

Officials also conducted awareness programmes for chemists, sensitising them on maintaining proper records and ensuring that scheduled medicines are dispensed strictly against prescriptions issued by registered medical practitioners.

In a related development, the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kulgam imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 in April 2026 in a case filed by the Drug Control Authority for non-maintenance of sale records of scheduled drugs, reinforcing regulatory compliance among chemists.
