The enforcement wing of Quality Control Division of Handicrafts department conducted surprise visit in Pahalgam tourist area. The dealers found selling fake items in the name of Kashmir handicrafts and without having a valid registration certificates were penalized.
The inspection was also conducted in Dal area where fine of Rs. 7000/- was imposed on Shikara Hawkers selling handicraft items without valid license. The inspection was conducted with the assistance of S.P (Enforcement) Department of Tourism.
Meanwhile, Handicraft dealers and hawkers have been warned to desist from selling fake machine made items in the name of Kashmir art and get their business establishments registered with the department, failing which necessary action as warranted under law shall be initiated.
