SRINAGAR: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has cancelled his scheduled two-day visit to Ladakh, which was to begin on April 25, in the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead.
According to media reports, sources confirmed the cancellation of Singh’s Ladakh trip following the grave situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday triggered widespread condemnation both within India and abroad.
In response to the massacre, the Defence Minister chaired a high-level security review meeting on Wednesday that lasted nearly two-and-a-half hours. The meeting was attended by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The review focused on the overall security situation in the Union Territory and the steps being taken to thwart any further threats from terror groups.
