SRINAGAR
Arun Jaitley, Defense Minister, visited the forward posts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of North Kashmir on Sunday, officials said.
The Defence Minister was briefed by the formation and unit commanders on the prevailing security situation along the Line of Control, the trends in infiltration of terrorists and the Counter Infiltration grid established by Army.
He also interacted with the officers, JCOs and cops deployed on the Line of Control and lauded their efforts and selfless duty towards the Nation. He assured them that the Nation stood behind them in all their exemplary services and he would ensure that all aspirations of the Army were addressed.
He was accompanied by General Bikram Singh, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen DS Hooda, the Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, the Chinar Corps Commander and other senior officials of Army and Ministry of Defence (MoD).
On return to Srinagar the Defence Minister attended the Special Security Review meeting held at Sher-I- Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC).
