Reacting to the deferment of by-election to the Islamabad Assembly Segment on the request of the State Government, which was scheduled to be held on 16th of May, state unit of Congress Thursday said that it is an “acceptance of first defeat” by the State Coalition especially the PDP.

Congress said, “since the PDP is aware of the ground political situation and they see their defeat as a writing on the wall, as such cited the reason of law and order situation to seek the deferment of the polls.”

“Congress and all other political Parties had already geared for the By-Election and had welcomed the holding of early elections; it is a coalition especially the PDP, which has taken the plea of law and order situation prevailed in parts of north Kashmir for few days to delay the Election on this seat merely for political reasons,” a Congress statement said early this evening.
