Kashmir’s religious organization Jamaet-e-Ahlhadees (JEA) Saturday expressed serious concern over the delay in the approval of its university bill, terming it the deliberate attempt to discriminate Muslims of the state. The bill was expected to be tabled in the recent assembly session.

According to party sources, the Governor of the state earlier had assured the party that the bill shall be tabled in the assembly session. “It is the height of injustice and the ruthless in discrimination with the Muslims of the state that the bill is still pending,” said Party’s General Secretary Abdul Rahman Bhat. He further mentioned that the Supreme Court of India has taken cognizance over the continuous delay in the approval of the Trans world Muslim university. “I had earlier written to the Supreme Court about the matter and stated that the vested interests in the state are overlooking the importance of the university and are creating hurdles in its approval.”

Bhat further stated that when the bill of Mata Vaishno Devi University was rejected by Cabinet, the then governor of the state facilitated its approval. “Our plight is that Cabinet and passing committee has approved the bill but the delay is given only for the reason that ours is the Muslim University.”

The former JEA chief Moulana Ghulam Rasool Malik when contacted told a local news agency, KNS that the party was sure about the approval of the university bill in the recent assembly session. “It is due to coalition government that the bill is gathering dust, the coalition partners do not have the unity about the different problems pertaining to the state.”

Meanwhile the party sources told KNS that the JAE has shot the letter to the higher officials, asking them the reasons over the delay in the approval. “Rather to offend, it is better to understand the mind of the authorities over the issue. The Party has decided to remain silent over it for some time,” said a senior official of the party while pleading for anonymity.
