SRINAGAR: A Delhi court on Saturday took cognisance of the National Investigation Agency’s 7,500-page chargesheet against 13 accused in connection with the Red Fort blast case, multiple national media reports said.
The high-intensity Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) blast on November 10 last year killed 11 people and injured several others.
Special Judge Prashant Sharma took cognisance of the chargesheet and listed the matter for further proceedings on September 9, according to the reports.
The NIA had initially filed a chargesheet against 10 accused on May 14 this year. According to the agency’s chargesheet, all 10, including the alleged main accused, Dr Umer Un Nabi, who is deceased, were linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), described as an offshoot of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
The following month, the agency filed a supplementary chargesheet against three more persons, including an absconding paediatrician identified as the founding member of an alleged terror module, taking the total number of persons charge-sheeted in the case to 13.
Further proceedings in the case are scheduled before the court on September 9.
