A Division Bench of Justice Prathiba M Singh and Justice Madhu Jain passed the order while hearing Khalid’s plea seeking temporary relief on humanitarian grounds.

The court directed that Khalid must remain at a specified address and allowed him only to visit the hospital where his mother is admitted, restricting his movement to any other location during the interim bail period.

Khalid, an accused under the stringent provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the larger conspiracy case related to the 2020 Delhi riots, had approached the High Court after a trial court rejected his request for 15 days’ interim bail.

The prosecution opposed the plea, stating that other family members were available to care for his mother and arguing that the grounds were insufficient for interim relief.

However, the High Court granted limited relief, taking into account the medical condition of Khalid’s mother and imposing strict conditions for the duration of the bail period. (KNC)
